After trying a new method of teaching, Robin Hudson reinvigorates her practice and students after years of feeling the pressure to “teach to the test”. In her 5th grade class at Buckeye Local School District, student teams solve challenges for local organizations in their community hit hard by the opioid crisis. As a result, this 14-year teacher has seen a shift in the culture of her classroom as students get more engaged in problem-solving and self-directed research.
“It is making my students much better problem-solvers. It is helping them dig deeper and not just look for the first solution that comes to their mind.”
– Robin Hudson, Teacher at Ridgeview Elementary School
